On October 16, members of our team traveled to Llano de Piedras and Bajos de Güera to deliver essential supplies and spend time with families facing the aftermath of the earthquake.
On October 16, 2026, our team traveled to the communities of Llano de Piedras and Bajos de Güera, in Panama’s Los Santos province, to support families affected by the recent earthquake. Under LOVILL Foundation, we brought food, medicine, hygiene products, tents, mattresses, and lighting supplies to residents navigating the days following the disaster.
But the purpose of our visit went beyond delivering supplies. We wanted to see the situation firsthand, listen to the people affected, and better understand what recovery looks like for the families living through it.
Beyond the Immediate Aftermath
As we arrived, the damage was visible. Homes had been severely affected, and families were adapting to circumstances that had changed their daily lives.
We met residents who shared their experiences, showed us what remained of their homes, and spoke about the challenges ahead.
Some were still sleeping in temporary conditions. Others were focused on securing basic necessities and finding ways to restore a sense of normalcy.
Throughout the day, we helped distribute supplies and spent time speaking with members of the community. These conversations reminded us that behind every report of damage is a family with its own story, concerns, and plans for what comes next.
There were also moments of warmth. Conversations, gestures of gratitude, and smiles shared despite the circumstances. Small moments that stayed with us long after we left.
Recovery Takes Time
Emergency assistance can address immediate needs, but rebuilding homes and routines takes considerably longer.
The families we visited are facing a recovery process that will extend beyond the first days and weeks following the earthquake. Continued support, whether through essential supplies, local initiatives, or community involvement, can make a meaningful difference as that process unfolds.
For us, this visit was an opportunity to listen, understand, and contribute in a practical way. It was also a reminder of the importance of remaining attentive to these communities as they move forward.
The experience is captured in the accompanying video, through the places we visited, the people we met, and the moments we shared.
To see. To be present. To share.
